thumps
I'm babysitting for the first time in a while, and just put the little guy down for the night. We read three books: A Very Hungry Caterpillar, Llama Llama Red Pajama, and Green Eggs & Ham. I'm now in the living room, listening to thumps coming from his room, wondering if he's made his way out of his crib.
My nose is red from my failure to put on sunscreen before attending the Giants v Padres game today. My boss, Bruce, gave me his tickets and the seats were Amazing. Sports are such a spectacle -- the fans freaking out, the players who are being paid far, far too much, and all the extra people that it takes to make the games happen. The Padres had a scrawny bat boy with a distinctively jaunty jog. I had the pleasure of Kevin's company, and he explained what was happening in the case of confusion. Also, a gentleman 5 rows ahead of us caught a foul ball in the third inning, and then a foul bat in the 6th. Crazy luck.
Another thump. Wondering if I'm hearing things or if this kid is trying to make a break for it. No screams/shouts yet, so that seems like a good sign.
It's been about six weeks since the Friendmageddon, and things are okay! Having Kevin in town for the summer has been absolutely wonderful, and I'm beginning to connect with people from work a bit more. I don't know yet when we'll be folks who get drinks after work instead of just folks who say hi and chat at work. Hard to say.
Still looking forward to a promotion. Eventually. The work I am doing is good. I'm engaged but not totally overwhelmed, and this company is big enough that there's HR work to be done. I do love a good org chart.
Also: there is a lovely dog named Leo curled up next to me. He was on my lap for a few minutes, but I couldn't come up with a way to type and snuggle. So now he's next to me, keeping my right leg toasty.
