Sam & Kevin & Opera
Sam and Kevin.
Wow.
These two people continually amaze me.
Over the course of the semester, I've been hanging out with them more and more. They both are completely enamored with each other (non-sexually? I think they are not gay.) and lavish affection on one another constantly. They are a wonderful pair.
And I've been hanging out with them a lot recently. All of us ended long term relationships within a week of each other. This has been a bonding experience, especially between Sam & me. Kevin & I have been close friends for a long time.
We're only going to be spending more time together, as opera starts Insane Time as of today. So rehearsals will run from 7pm to god only knows when. (I'm sure it will be reasonable most of the time. Maybe 11pm, only sometimes 2am.)
Oh, these two men are singers. I would say that is the single major downfall of our trio -- It is Really easy to talk and talk and talk about singerly things. But Sam & I are both double-degree rockin' kids, so we're able to balance Kevin's sole singer status. Plus we're all really great. That makes it a lot better.
I'm realizing that people spend time together because of their common experience. Being in the opera is making me realize that singers are all friends because they spend huge amounts of time together in rehearsal. And that instrumentalists are probably friends because of their common experience in ensembles. So now I will forgive us all a little more for being clique-y.
